Match Report: First Team v Reigatians AFC: 4 - 1 Home Win (Friendly)

 The first game of the season saw Ashtead field some new faces and an extremely old one, Richard Elphick, making his first team debut after 30 years with the club.  The new boys pitched in well and took to the formation with ease.  The first half was an even affair with chances going for both sides.  However, it was Reigatians that took the lead after about 30 minutes when the play broke down their left and 4 Ashtead players failed to react to the unfolding situation.  Reigatains took the goal well and went into half time with a 1-0 lead.  The fitness and relative youtfulness of Ashtead saw the A’s start to dominate the second half when debutant Dean Callaghan managed to grab a goal with his right foot.  He knicked his second goal with his girlfriend proudly shouting “that’s my boyfriend!”.  Obviously he had to be subbed shortly thereafter to save any further embarrassing outbursts from the fans.  Tom Walker had a slight knock on the knee and Ian Street made his way into midfield after spending 65 minutes standing around up front.  Two more goals came as Ashtead started to dominate possession and pass the ball around the park.  Eliot Lock screamed in the 3^rd goal with a wonder strike from outside the box (it was a pass really) and Nic Englefield managed to score a fourth just before the end (or was the other way round).  A good solid performance from the team.  Now for a tough one next week.  Home to Tooting Bec 3pm kick off.
